A Long and Winding Path

The history of how Grunge + Grace came about is a long one that includes fairy wings, children's clothing, and lots of transitions!

When I was a teenager, I watched my mom open her own business. She made a name for herself in our hometown with her embroidery business. She grew it from nothing into something amazing. As I entered adulthood, I have always had the desire to follow in her footsteps and have my own business.

Finding what that business would be, however, has been quite a journey!

I started off as MaeFlowers & JuneBugs, where I made children's fairy costumes and renaissance clothing. The fairy wings I made were all machine embroidered, and while they got lots of attention, they were ahead of their time and sales were slow. Life picked up and I started homeschooling my kids. I ended up closing shop and went into business with my mom, as online quilt shop owners. We grew a rather large group of followers, but that ended, it's wasn't really sustainable to be business partners while living 6+ hours apart...

Last year, I started really thinking about what I want to do. My kids are both in high school, with my oldest about to graduate, and I want to do something I love when they're out of the house. So I started planning what Grunge + Grace will look like. At first, I just wanted to offer custom shirts and embroidery, but the fabric loving part of my soul has taken over and I recently got into (i.e.- addicted to) making tumblers. I wanted to do something a little different, and since I love fabric so much, I started wrapping tumblers with my favorite fabrics. I also do enjoy my sewing time, so I am offering small sewn items, like lanyards and wallets.

I hope you enjoy the things that I create and they at least bring a smile to your face!
