When life gets crazy...

When life gets crazy, my favorite thing to do is get lost in my quilting!  Lately, it seems like my life has been flipped upside down.  My husband and I have recently become empty nesters and you would think that life would be calmer without our kids at home, but the reality is, it seems a little crazier.  Part of that might be because our son is in boot camp and recently had a set back and currently doesn't know when he will be graduating or if he will be discharged.  Everything had been planned our perfectly with his graduation being the week before my next quilting cruise, but now we don't know what to expect or plan for.  So, I've been spending my evenings getting lost in the sewing room.  I've been working on a new pattern that I'm hoping to release soon.

Grace Above in Progress

The new quilt pattern is called Grace Above, and is a fun take on a rail fence quilt.  Right now, while everything is unknown, all I can do is look to God above.  I have been praying more in the last week than I probably have all year.  And I know, that doesn't make me look great as a Christian, but I feel like I am in constant prayer until I know what He has planned for my son.  I don't like not knowing what is happening, and part of me feels like this is God trying to teach me a lesson in letting go of control.  It's one of the biggest things I've struggled with my entire life.  And right now, I have to accept that I have no control over the situation.

I do, however, have control over my quilting and creativity!  So, a lot of progress is being made on new quilt patterns and new products!  If you saw me at Quilt Plano last month, you saw the new Complete Quilter gift sets that I introduced.  I have made a little tweak to what's included and I will be launching them in the shop to order soon!  I also decided that I'm going to launch some "FPP Essential" sets which will include a Grunge+Grace Starch Pen and Sewline Glue Pen in matching fabrics.  Those will also be available to order soon.  I made up a handful of the sets in Tilda fabrics to take with me on the cruise next week that my mom is teaching on.  Even though I may not be able to go on the cruise, my mom is taking them with her to sell for me.

I've also been busy getting custom orders from Quilt Plano ready to ship, and building up stock for my next show, which is in November.  I'm a member of the Texas Star Quilters Guild and our annual quilt show is going to be held in Canton, TX on November 7-8, 2025.  Not only will we have 100 beautiful quilts, including two of my own, in the show, but we have some great vendors lined up, a Christmas Shoppe with lots of handmade goodies that will be perfect for Christmas gifts, and a Brown Bag Raffle, featuring lots of great prizes!  If you're in the East Texas area, please make plans to come out and support this great guild!

I'm gonna sign off for now, I'm off to play with resin and then head to the sewing room!

Happy Crafting, y'all!
